Students will prepare a ten-minute talk on a scientific topic (Topics will be provided,
students can choose one) related to an aspect of microbial biotechnology.
*******The topic I have selected is Topic 3: Microbes and Cancer******** The presentation should take the format of a PowerPoint slideshow recorded through
Zoom or other video recording application.
The slides should be the focus of the video with the presenter’s face visible in a small
window in the video.
Ensure that the video file is in MP4 format, this is compatible with vUWS. This file should
be relatively small (<20 Mb).
Avoid 4K and high resolutions as these create very large files.
As a general rule allow one minute per slide.
All standard rules of scientific writing apply to presentations: so cite sources in-text and
in a reference list, scientific names and units must be correctly formatted.
The slides must be submitted to Turnitin, this is separate to the submission of the video.
Both links for submission will be in the Assessment 4 folder.
Avoid inappropriate copying of text, it should be your own composition.
You can use figures and information from articles, cite appropriately (on slide and in a
reference list).
Disclaimer: A major purpose of the rubric is to enable consistent marking by the academic
staff. It will aid students to see the distribution of marks to different elements of the
assessment, but it is not a compete guide to how to do the assignment. Not everything
that is expected can reasonably be included in this type of document and assessors will
also apply their knowledge and experience to the grade
Presentation tips:
-Choose High Contrast Text
-Only Five Words per Line
•Only Five Lines per Slide
•In General Allow One Minute Per Slide
- use pictures and diagrams to make it visually appealing and make sure to cite/reference each one using WSU harvard referencing
I just need visually appealing power point slides and speaker notes. I will record this myself after.
Thank you!
