Please define: atomic radius, ionic radius, ionization energy, and electronegativity.
These can be in a bullet format.

Using the tables you made, please perform the following analyses. There are several different comparisons you are being asked to make. Use the notes you have to help you in your explanations. You should make sure to use terms like core of electrons (or nuclear shield), nuclear charge, and valence.
Your analysis should answer the following questions.
Please use complete sentences, correct grammar, and spelling.
Please describe and explain the general trend in atomic radius on the periodic table. Be sure to describe and explain the trends for the group AND the period.
Compare the size of the atomic radius of elements in groups compared to the size of their ions. What happens when positive ions are made? What happens when the charge of the positive ion increases? What happens when negative ions are made? What happens when the charge of the negative ion increases? Why do certain elements not have ionic radii given?
Please describe and explain the general trends in ionization energy on the periodic table. Be sure to describe and explain the trends for the group AND the period. For the period – explain the ‘blips’ that occur between groups 2 and 13 and groups 15 and 16. (A blip is an interruption of the trend.)
Please describe and explain the general trends in electronegativity on the periodic table. Be sure to describe and explain the trends for the groups AND the period. Why are certain elements not included?
Please describe the Electron Affinity graph. Compare it to the Ionization Energy graph AND the Electronegatiity graph. Please explain the trends for the groups and the periods. (This is not on the handout – I’m sorry!! Yes, please complete it)
