For the assignment this week I want you to administer a version of the S-TOFHLA. You should complete this task with at least one participant per group member (e.g., 2-3 participants overall) – it is preferable to involve participants with a variety of ages, such as one individual younger than 40 years of age and one individual older than 60 years of age. This will allow you to discuss any interesting findings, similarities, or differences. Who do you expect to perform better? The assessment will consist of 4 numeracy items and 2 prose passages.
See attachment for assessment forms: Week 7 Health Literacy Assignment Form (see files)
Please note that I did not include how you score the S-TOFHLA. You are welcome to look that up – I would start with the Baker et al., (1999) paper. The scoring is not mandatory for this assignment.
Write two pages on the comparison of administering the assessment to your participants. What were your observations? What recommendations would you suggest? Make sure to comment on how this assessment relates to determining an individual’s health literacy and how it may impact (or not) practice/procedures. Please include the assessments in the appendix.
Your assignment portion should be no longer than two pages.
Note: a title page for the individual weekly assignment is not necessary.
Appendix: can be hand written assessment form used as part of the assignment.
Formatting and Referencing requirements can be found in the syllabus. This assignment is to be submitted in a “Module” together with other assignments. Among the few tasks required for this course, this one is particularly heavy on the chin. The module is not just being turned in by myself, but also by my classmate who is working with me. Can you please limit your writing to one page? I need to give my partner some space to add to it, so the final product will be two pages long. Thank you! This assignment is an assignment for a master’s level course that is being taken at a university in Canada! Additionally, I have additional PDFs from the class that you may look at in order to have a better understanding of how to do this task. Be as specific as possible and make sure nothing is overlooked. Addressing “older adults” should also be done in a tolerant and age-friendly manner. The word “older adults” has to be updated so it fits in with society. Some may find the phrase “old people” insulting. Also please look at the “Module 1” grade report I received from the previous module to see how my professor grades!
ALSO PLEASE FILL OUT THE HEALTH LITERACY ASSIGNMENT FORM!!!!!!!!! ANSWER EVERYTHING THAT IT ASK! PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL!
