Discussion 9 – Group 1
PROMPT
For this discussion, you are going to discuss your behavioral plan project with your classmates, identify consequence-focused strategies you can utilize in your project, and give feedback to your classmates on how they can use consequence-focused strategies in their projects.
Review the following consequence-focused strategies:
Reinforcers: Anything that makes a behavior more likely to occur in the future
Punishers: Time out, response cost, overcorrection, physical restraint, guided compliance, contingent exercise
Token Economy: Providing something that represents desired reinforcers
Differential Reinforcement: Attempting to get rid of undesirable behaviors by using positive reinforcement of desirable behaviors
Self-Praise: Verbal self-reinforcement
Social Support: When others provide reinforcement or punishment
Now think about your behavioral plan project for this course and answer the following questions.
What is your target behavior? What is your distal goal?
Summarize the consequence data from your baseline ABC log. What did this data reveal to you about consequences following the behavior?
How can you use consequence-focused strategies in your project? You should find outside resources to support your answer.
