To write a historiography, you need at least 2-3 quality secondary sources so that you can compare them. It is easiest with more, but this is a short research paper and I only expect one paragraph for the historiography. It is better if you can contrast those opinions, but that won’t always be possible. If all historians agree on the topic, you’ll just need to show the different explanations they give that lead to the same result. It should only take 1-2 sentences to explain each (you’re not attempting to summarize their entire work).
After citing the work of a historian in the historiography, you’ll also include the year published in parentheses. This is only done in the historiography, but is meant to allow the reader to see more easily how theories changed over time.
