Time flies! Your character has reached late adulthood. The numbers you have been assigned this time relate to (1) your character’s physical activity levels in older age (1 = not active, 2 = moderately active), (2) presence of illness/disease (1 = no disease, 2 = arthritis, 3 = osteoporosis, 4 = frequent falls, 5 = Alzheimers, 6 = Parkinson’s disease), (3) marital status in old age (1 = widowed, 2 = married, 3 = divorced/never married– depending on what you were assigned for Assignment 4), and (4) presence of grandchildren (1 = no grandchildren, 2 = yes grandchildren).
Physical development and well-being: How is your character’s activity level related to the presence or absence of disease and the specific disease they have been diagnosed with? (10 pts) What other risk and protective factors for disease can you identify from earlier in your character’s development (for example: presence of a spouse, education level, socioeconomic status)? (30 pts) How has this illness or lack thereof influenced their lifestyle? (10 pts)
Emotional development and well-being: In what ways does your character’s marital status effect their socioemotional development, self-concept, and overall well-being? (20 pts) How does the presence or absence of grandchildren contribute to their successful aging? (20 pts) How else does your character pursue wellness in their old age? (10 pts)
Please be sure to answer each question and sub-question, and integrate material from the textbook in your answer, using in-text citations.
Your answers should result in a short essay of 1.5 double spaced pages. Your response needs to be in APA format with no direct quotations from the textbook (everything paraphrased in your own words) and in text citations telling me where in the book the information came from.
The factors assigned to me were: 2632. So 2= moderately active, 6= Parkinson’s disease, 3= divorced or never married based on the previous assignment, 2= yes grandchildren.
