These are the requirments from my teacher : Chapters 7 & 9 highlight the cardiovascular system, its control, and acute responses to exercise. After reading Chapter 7 you should have a good grasp of the cardiovascular system including its structure and function. One of the most important concepts of this chapter, as you may have noticed, is that the cardiovascular system is integrated and serves an important role in the human body. Here, we will take a closer look at one of the most important processes of the CV system, the cardiac cycle.
Initial Post:
You will define the following terms: Cardiac Output, Stroke Volume, End-diastolic Volume, End-systolic volume, Diastolic pressure, Systolic Pressure.
Figure 7.8 (Chapter 7 Power Point, slide 31) shows a special diagram that depicts the cardiac cycle. This diagram, known as Wigger’s diagram can be a useful way to understand the cardiac cycle. It will likely take you some time to devote to understanding this process, so plan accordingly!
Using Figure 7.8, and your definitions above, describe the cardiac cycle. Be sure to include in an integrated process description: Blood flow through the heart, valvular openings and closures, pressure changes throughout the cardiac cycle, volume changes throughout the cardiac cycle.
Also choose one potential “influencer” on the cardiac cycle / the heart’s function. Examples could include systemic pressure changes (control of BP), systemic volume changes, intrinsic control, extrinsic control, blood composition, etc.
One scholarly reference is required (this may be your textbook). Any other references should be from a peer-reviewed journal. Cite using APA formatting.
Your initial post should be >150 words and in paragraph form.
Be sure to proof-read your posts!
