Both the Asch Conformity experiments and the Milgram Obedience study were repeated many times while varying small factors like where the participants were placed relative to the confederates (actors that were instructed to act like participants), where the study took place, and how many confederates there were. In varying the protocol in each of these studies, we discovered that certain variables have an impact on an individual’s likelihood to conform or obey. Watch this video that summarizes several of the influential variables on conformity and obedience.
