Evaluating Intimate Relationships Exercise: The purpose of this exercise is to reflect on the different aspects of significant relationships in your life. (These can be positive, negative, or mixed relationships.) Choose one relationship you would like to evaluate. Answer the following questions: Name three things you like about this person and three things you dislike. In what ways do you consider your relationship to be healthy and/or unhealthy? In what specific ways is this person supportive of your relationships with others and in activities you engage yourself in? Are you supportive of the other person’s relationships and activities? How would you characterize your communication style or patterns with this person? How are decisions made in your relationship with this person? How do you handle conflicts? Discuss healthy and unhealthy relationships and how interpersonal experiences are involved in shaping other biopsychosocial developmental outcomes.
