Create an environmental design (Floor Plan) that will support your investigation
Create an environmental design (Floor Plan) that will support your investigation. There is an example of one in Young Investigators, Chapter 6. Read the selection Setting Up The Classroom For Investigation on pages 48-51 in Young Investigators.
Read pages 105 – 108 in Young Investigators for an example of a classroom layout.
Create a floor plan (see example below) that displays the areas where the project work will take place – include arrangement of interest areas such as block, art, dramatic play, discovery, reading, research, and arrangement of materials, clean-up, bulletin boards with placement of KWL/ children′s webs, artwork, artifacts, etc. Include outside environment where project will take place as well. Write the Title – Environmental Design for (Rock Investigation or Insect Investigation) at the top of the floor plan.
Include a written desсrіption of the overall arrangement of the interest areas, furnishings, supplies, and materials and equipment you will be using.
Example of an Environmental Design
NOTE: Please incorporate all relevant areas for your project into your floor plan such as, a discovery table, dramatic play, music & movement, research table or area, observation table etc. – whatever is relevant to your project investigation, and however you would arrange it for the duration of your project. Please include some of the outdoor environment and how it will be used for the investigation. My Topic would be “Environmental Design for Ladybugs” I have attached a example from the book
