Based on the Learning Resources for this week, consider eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) conditions you may identify frequently as a Family Nurse Practitioner and those that may be more unusual. Also consider what aspects of the exam process might be more challenging for you—assessing, evaluating, providing multiple diagnoses, treatments, or offering the patient and family management advice.
Case Summary: The patient is an 18 month old male with a 2 day history of a shortness of breath, fever, and productive cough. Additional symptoms includes rhinorrhea and decreased appetite. Immunizations are up to date, developmental milestones present and appropriate for age. Physical findings include: Temp of 102 degrees F. tachypnea and SaO2 92%. erythema in pharynx, pulmonary wheezing and crackles. Risk factors include exposure to second hand smoke.
Please utilize the attached report from an i-Human exam to prepare for pediatric patients with EENT conditions that includes health promotion and prepare a plan with the attached iHuman Template. Please provide at least 3 evidence-based references that are less than 4 years old.
